Comfort

Image Image Image

Today I went for comfort! I just wore a loose fitting brown shirt over some jeggings. The black boots are a Forever 21 find and so are the jeggings. My mom gave me this top when I was pregnant but I still love to wear it. I dress for comfort most days, but that doesn’t mean I am reduced to sweat pants and flip flops. The boots aren’t that comfortable yet…….hopefully after a few days of being worn they will be. If things are uncomfortable they end up sitting in my closet until I donate them. I rarely have the patience to wear things until they are “worn in” unless I have to. But I am more budget conscious than comfort conscious. Since these boots were only $40 compared to the other pair I was looking at for $198, I think I can handle a few days of toe torture!

Wearing Skirts In The Winter

IMG_1391 IMG_1407

Welcome to my very first fashion-ish post! I love clothes and makeup but I don’t ever take the time to show you what I like to wear. I figured I’d start this winter. I always find it super challenging to dress myself in the winter. I have to fight the urge to throw on the sweat pants and boots every day. Let’s face it, when it’s 15 degrees outside all we really want is it be WARM! I have drawers full of tights and socks that I never really use, BUT NOT THIS YEAR! I’m going to use them all this winter.

This is a Maxi skirt that I purchased from Forever 21 last week. It was only $19!!! I paired it with a crop top which happened to be a regular shirt I just cut in half. My socks are thigh high socks that are also from Forever 21, and the boots are leather boots from Nordstrom Rack. Wearing tights or tall sweater socks are my favorite way of making an outfit warmer for the winter. I hope you guys like this outfit. I had to get over the fact that the crop tops show a little skin, and after having Audrey they may show a glimpse of my stretch marks. But whoever said that you can’t wear what you want when you have stretch marks?!

Goodwill Finds

IMG_1186

At Goodwill on Saturday they had a half off everything sale. We usually go every month but this month we found a great dining room set. I have been wanting a bench dining set for our informal area for a long time. I was getting so tired of moving big heavy chairs around and sweeping between all their legs. This table came with a bench and two other chairs. And since it was the half off day is was only $70! We quickly decided to buy it and take it home. Unfortunately we later discovered that the previous owners had glued the bench back together after the wood, well MDF, had ripped apart. Tom was pretty upset to discover this while putting it together, but it looked like an easy enough repair. All we needed to do was replace the end piece with solid wood. I had some scrap wood left over from a different project that we used. It turned out to be the perfect width for this bench end.

We cut the wood then screwed it back in and it worked! We fixed it and it was free to fix. Now I just have to decide what color to make it. I really don’t like light oak so I want to paint it ASAP. I am not an expert when it comes to painting furniture so I’ll have to read up on it before I start. But I am still very proud of our new set. Everyone can fit on the bench alone now, and before there was hardly enough room. It really is a great space saver for us.

Birthday Gifts!

Many of you know that I have a LOVE for handbags. This year I really REALLY wanted a nice bag that would be a good size for dinners and receptions. I decided I wanted a Jumbo Chanel Flap in lambskin, but I never really thought that Tom would want to buy one. He doesn’t really understand the allure of designer handbags. So I searched and searched for another birthday gift that would make ‘sense’ to ask for, but I still really wanted this handbag.

Well Tom likes to give me more reasons to LOVE  HIM! We decided to buy a used one on ebay. I had it authenticated and I think we got a pretty good deal. I CANNOT justify buying any Chanel classic handbags new anymore. Chanel has gotten a little ‘trigger happy’ with these price increases and it really puts a sour taste in my mouth. I had such a great experience buying this bag on ebay; I will probably purchase most of my future handbags from trustworthy ebay sellers from now on (except my future Hermes Birkin).

It has a few scratch marks and indents from the chain, but it’s lovely.

And on top of this already huge gift, he bought me a pair of earrings that I have been wanting for a while. They go beautifully with my purse too! They can be dressed up or dressed down and they sparkle 🙂
