Saturday October 3rd my 2 cousins from Arizona flew into San Antonio to visit. We all went to Sea World with Audrey because that is where she wanted to go on her birthday weekend. It was such a nice day! We saw 3 shows Azul, One Ocean, and Pets Ahoy. Of course Audrey and I have seen Azul and One Ocean many times since we go to Sea World every few weeks. But we never saw Pets Ahoy and Audrey loved it. This show stars dozens of animals that have been rescued by Sea World. I think they mentioned that over 100 animals were rescued!  The trainers do a great job entertaining the crowd with cool tricks and good music. At the end of the show they let the audience come up to the stage to pet the animals. They even had a few pigs running around!

Audrey wanted to wear her Queen Elsa dress to Sea World and we saw several other kids dressed up. We visited the ‘Bay Of Play’ area and she ran through the water in her dress. Luckily I brought TWO outfit changes in case this happened. The Bay Of Play is a great area for younger kids. Its a giant jungle gym with slides, water attractions, rides, shows, and even some carnival games. It’s hard to miss since it’s close to the entrance.

The Dolphin Cove and Shark Tanks were closed. That whole area was blocked off by a fence. The sign said “Coming May 2016” and it showed pictures of a new dolphin aquarium! I am SO excited for this because we didn’t go to that side of the park too often but now it looks like it will be awesome when it’s done. I’m really looking forward to seeing it.

We left for a few hours to eat dinner. Tom, Audrey and I came back later in the evening for Howl-O-Scream. We saw the decorations everywhere and we really wanted to see the Shamu finale show at 10:15pm. It was late but it was worth it. The lights they had set up were so cool. It was all coordinated to great classic songs. Imagine Orcas doing tricks to a light show and KISS deafening your family – yeah that’s an accurate description. Even the trainers were dressed up in skeleton wet suits! The park was pretty spooky though. The lights were all off and there was scary music playing. As you walk through the park people would try to spook you. There was a scary haunted house set up by the Shamu Stadium. Tom wanted to go, but there was no way I would go. I’m not a fan of haunted houses. More like I’d rather not pay money to pee my pants.

Have I mentioned that the San Antonio Sea World is my favorite lately? We have been to Orlando, San Diego, and San Antonio. We are so lucky that our favorite park is in our backyard. Obviously the trend now is ‘anti-Sea World’ and those people are entitled to their opinions. Just like me and my family are entitled to our opinions about Sea World. I find it comical that people who try to chastise me for supporting Sea World look more hypocritical than educated. How many of them have pets or visit zoos. Even museums have animal exhibits. I don’t understand how they can support animal captivity in other forms but they don’t support Sea World. It’s fine to have a position regarding the Sea World issues, but please don’t tell me I’m mis-informed. We have done our research and we are comfortable with our decisions.

Today we are heading to the Doseum! This is one of Audrey’s favorite places to visit. It’s probably the best children’s museum I’ve been to. We always pack snacks to bring with us because there are several places to sit and enjoy them. We bring a snack pack any time we leave the house because I never know when hunger will strike. I love my days with my sidekick and I wanted to share some things that help our day go smoothly. Hungry, tired toddlers equal major melt downs!

Every time we leave the house I pack a lunch box with some tasty treats. Dannon® Danimals® are a perfect on-the-go snack to fuel our adventures with only the good stuff. They contain NO high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors. It’s also a good source of calcium and vitamin D. I’ve been giving Dannon® Danimals® to Audrey since she was a year old because they are super easy to serve. We just stick a straw through the foil top and go! Talk about quick and easy :). You’ll see on the box that Dannon® Danimals® is having a Play 60 contest. If you find a “Golden Bongo” bottle inside marked packaging you could win a Play60 Field Day for your school with NFL pros! Visit the Fuel Up To Play site to learn more. I know Audrey and I are in search of that Golden Bongo Bottle! Broncos here we come!

Some other staple items in our snack box is cheese! We buy all kinds of string cheese and cheese squares. I prefer part skim Mozzarella because it contains about half the fat of other cheeses. Cheese is also a great source of calcium, protein, vitamins A, and B12. Despite all the healthy stuff cheese is still a high fat, high calorie snack so we watch our serving sizes.

Fruit of any kind is great to bring along. I bring fruit that doesn’t contain a lot of juice. For example, I wouldn’t pack watermelon unless we were going some place to get wet like a water park. Sliced apples are good, sometimes blueberries when they are in season. Bananas are good except for they mash easily. Fresh pineapple is a nice snack and so are sliced peaches and cantaloupe. Sometimes I even slip a bag of sugar snap peas in the snack pack!

My last staple is Fruit Smiles. These are exclusive to Wal-Mart. They are a gummy type of fruit snack. Audrey loves them! They are my “last resort” snack or bribe if you will. If you are a parent you’re familiar with bribing your kids with food! The Fruit Smiles usually come out close to the end of an errand. This snack is more for distraction than anything else. It usually goes something like “Hey don’t have a melt down! Have a bag of Fruit Smiles instead.”

Bringing a snack pack helps you avoid the temptation of drive through restaurants. And lets not forget about those sugar filled walls at check out counters. We try to eat as balanced as we can (key word ‘try’) so packing snacks before we leave the house helps us keep track of what we put in our bodies. Don’t forget to put an ice pack in your cooler to keep your cold items fresh. Head to Wal-Mart to buy everything you need to start your snack packing today! Click here to visit the Dannon Social Hub to learn more. Be sure to let us know what you like to pack when you leave the house.

Audrey Is 3 Today!

 photo IMG_4584 Edit_zpsxqwmr18r.jpg

Today is October 4, 2015. Today Audrey Ella Mohr turns 3 years old. I can’t believe it. I’ll say that every October 4th! It just goes by so quickly. I try to cherish her at every moment and it just goes too quickly. This sassy toddler has been so much work. She’s extremely smart and we are going to be in trouble.

I still remember the 40 hour labor that seemed like it would never end. I was crying at one point because I was so worn down and there was no end in site. The pain was so powerful and deep there was no way I could have prepared myself for it. Then she arrived and it was so hard to recover and adjust to breastfeeding. I didn’t have the  “love at first sight” connection with her. It didn’t happen immediately and I felt bad about it. It took months to become attached to my baby. So don’t feel bad if you don’t have that immediate connection!  Audrey wouldn’t sleep unless she was being carried. We tried everything but she won the battle. She hated the car seat, stroller, swing…. well basically anything that restrained her. Our littler monster was already showing her personality. She loved to listen to techno and country music. There was one techno song that she would fall asleep to every time we played. It sounded like it came right out of a rave warehouse haha!

It’s funny because I know her personality so well now. Sometimes I think back to when she was a baby and I’m like “oh yeah that totally matches her personality”. Like her not tolerating being restrained! She’s such an independent kid and it all makes sense now. I love that she’s independent. She always knows what she wants even when she was a baby. Now she knows what she wants and she takes it. That tends to get her into trouble more often than not. This morning she lugged her chair into the kitchen and got into the cookie jar again. Naughty baby.

Time flies by! All I can do is document everything 🙂

Bring Fall To Your Home!

 photo FA2C75FD-DB0A-41B8-AB8E-AD9B0174DACE_zpsh8faupt1.jpg

I love decorating!!! It’s my favorite part of the Holiday season. I decorate for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and then Spring. Adding a few decorations here and there is all you need to bring fall into your home. I love decorating with pumpkins and candles. Arranging a few items on your coffee and dining room tables is all you need sometimes. This is my simple arrangement on my coffee table. Its only THREE items but it’s all about fall. The candle was a Marshalls find but you can find them online here. The oil lamp was $5 at Walmart and the pumpkin was $4 at our local H-E-B.

Potted plants with fall colors are beautiful to set out around your home. I bought this flowering bush and the cat stake at Walmart for $13 total. So CUTE! We also have a little white ghost in a flower bed. Outside my home is drenched in fall lights! I LOVE lights in Holiday colors. I bough a bunch of lights from Hobby Lobby one year and each strand had something wrong with them. So now I stick with Walmart because they have a great selection and I’ve never had an issue with them.

If you have any kind of railing in your home wrap them with ribbons and lights. We also have a mantle that I put this garland on. I can’t tell you how easy all this stuff is to set up and take down. And it adds that special touch to your home. These simple things make the Holidays special for me and I hope I can pass the decorating bug on to my babies. If you haven’t started to decorate yet you better get started! I buy all of my decorations at Goodwill and Walmart. It’s October first everyone so lets get FESTIVE!
