See The New Sea World

Hey ya’ll – I love saying that. This last weekend we went to Sea World to see what’s new there. We all know or have seen commercials that Sea World is changing things up. They are not going to be breeding Orcas anymore and stopping a lot of the previous shows. We are season pass holders and we go frequently. I have to admit I’m sad about these changes. The war against Sea World has become so trendy. You have people cursing Sea World as they walk to buy a burger in their leather shoes.  Most people I know who are “anti-Sea World” have no issue visiting a zoo or other venues where animals are in captivity. Or worse yet they have pets of their own and a closet full of fur or leather. Let’s not forget folks that most people eat animals as well. Maybe you’re thinking “but orcas and whales are different”.  How are they different than other animals at a zoo? The only thing that’s different if your perspective or value from one animal to the next. I’m not against people who have a different opinion on the subject. What I’m against is the hypocrisy so many anti Sea World supporters exhibit.

Now that I’ve got that off my chest let’s get on to the fun! We went to celebrate my nephews birthday. It was his first time there. It was a great day for it too. The sun was shining and there was a cool breeze. The kids had so much fun looking at all the animals. We went straight in the see the baby Orca. He was swimming around with his momma. It was so cute. We saw the new dolphin and Beluga whale show. It was a bit boring compared to the show they used to do. I hope they revamp it because it was lacking a lot of the excitement that the kids were wanting to see.

My little Beluga Elliot was watching the shows on our laps. He did SO good! It was night and day from our visit to Disney World when he was 3 months old. It’s crazy how fast babies change. He was not a happy camper at Disney. But here at Sea World 2 months later I almost didn’t know he was with us. He was so quiet sitting in his stroller watching everything. When he got tired he fell right asleep. I was very happy. At first I thought we would probably leave early because he wasn’t going to like being in the stroller so much. Boy I’m glad he got over that! Our double bob is an amazing stroller and it’s too dang hot to baby wear!

The cherry on top was Tom surprising us at the end. He got out of the hospital early and was able to come see the dolphins and sharks with us. It was so nice to have him come spend a bit of time with us. We definitely miss him when he’s not with us. We were all tired by 4pm so we headed out. The drive home was just silent haha. All the kids were OUT cold. It was pleasant. You don’t get too many moments like that as a stay at home mom. I’d almost forgotten what silence sounds like!

Thank you Sea World for giving us a place to run our kids into a peaceful sleep. I’m sad about the changes, but Sea World offers so much for every kind of visitor. I’d love to think that these new changes will bring back all the business they’ve lost through these hate campaigns. I’ll be optimistic since our family enjoys coming here. Next on the list Aquatica!
